Sara Mitchell's Obituary
Sara Mitchell of Millville died suddenly and unexpected early Friday evening October 18, 2024 in the University of Penn Hospital, Philadelphia. She was 75 years old.
Born in Bridgeton, July 29, 1949 she was the daughter of the late Benjamin E. Sr. and Sylvia B (Morris) Mitchell.
Sara was a lifelong resident of the area and taught at Fairfield Elementary School for thirty plus years, where she was well loved by students and parents. During her time there, she was respected amongst peers enough to not only be awarded as Teacher of the Year but even served as a President of the Teachers Union, where she became a strong advocate in fighting for fair wages for teachers. After her retirement she became a member of the Fairfield Elementary Birthday Club, where she particularly enjoyed celebrating and connecting with other local teachers. She enjoyed sports, particularly tennis and Phillies baseball but loved watching her grandsons participate in local athletics in the area. She would not skip an opportunity to travel and sightsee, but moreso loved time spent with her family and two dogs (Nikki & Ricky) and decorating for each and all holidays. She had an infectious smile and will be truly missed by all.
