Norma H. Gould's Obituary
Norma H. Gould, 93, passed away late Monday afternoon, April 27, 2026, at her longtime residence in Fairfield Township after a hard-fought battle with years of declining health. Born October 29, 1932, in Bridgeton, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Lillian (Cuff) and Amos Bailey and beloved wife of the late Claude E. Gould, who passed in 1989.
Norma dedicated over thirty years to the Bridgeton USPS office, serving her community with a familiar smile as a mail carrier. Beyond her career, she was a pillar of the Gouldtown community. Norma was a constant presence at the Gouldtown School, where she spent years volunteering with the PTA and chaperoning class trips for students of all ages. Her commitment to local youth extended to her time as a devoted Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. A woman of deep faith, she was a proud member of the Gouldtown A.M.E. Church and found great joy in lifting her voice with the choir. In her leisure time, Norma cherished her outings and shopping trips with her longtime friend, Ester Jones. Above all, she lived for the "thrills" of life—especially when it involved taking her grandchildren to local amusement parks.
Norma leaves her memories to be cherished by her three sons: Claude Gould Jr. (Theresa), Terry Gould, and Brian Gould (Stacy); brother, Charles Bailey; grandchildren: Claude Phillip Jr., Shayla Patrice, Bryan Jaden, Desiree Watkins, Lakeisha Bryant, Semaj Campbell, and Frank Tyler; great-grandchildren: Senaj Surrency, Deva Bryant, Josiah Campbell, Aiden Campbell, and Yasir Smith; and great-great-grandchildren: Xaylen Smith, Sehki Bryant, Hero Moore, Olivia London-Gould, and Xavier McGriff, amongst a host of additional nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Norma was predeceased by her husband, Claude E. Gould; parents, Lillian and Amos Bailey; and two siblings, Lawrence Bailey and Ella Scott.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Gouldtown A.M.E. Church, located at 1107 Bridgeton Millville Pike, Bridgeton, NJ 08302. A visitation will be held from 10:00–11:00 AM with funeral services following. Interment will take place at Gouldtown Memorial Park.
