Dear Coach Gould,
On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff, members, and families of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cumberland County, I want to extend our deepest condolences to you and your family on the passing of your mother, Norma H. Gould.
Your mother’s life was clearly one of service, compassion, faith, and commitment to her community. From her many years with the Bridgeton USPS office to her volunteer work with the Gouldtown School PTA, Cub Scouts, and Gouldtown A.M.E. Church, she touched the lives of countless people throughout Cumberland County. Her devotion to children, families, and community mirrors the same spirit of mentorship and care that you bring to our young people every day.
It is evident that Mrs. Gould leaves behind a tremendous legacy through her family, her community involvement, and the many lives she impacted over the years. We hope you find comfort in the memories you shared with her and in knowing how deeply respected and appreciated she was by so many.
Please know that during this difficult time, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. We are grateful for all that you do for the youth of our organization, and we stand beside you in support.
With heartfelt sympathy,
Carlos A. Mercado, Jr. (On behalf of the BGCCC Board of Directors)
My Aunt Norm was a big part of my early childhood and helped shape some of my best memories. She gave me the warmth of family and a true sense of belonging. I spent my summer days at her house playing with her boys from morning until the sun went down. I still think of the little things, like the daily peanut butter and jelly sandwiches I had at her home for lunch. She always included me in everything-family activities, road trips to Wildwood, and the swimming lessons at Sandy Point. Those were the kinds of moments that felt endless at the time and now mean so much more.
As a child, my aunt was a foundational role model- someone who gave her time, her care, and displayed her love through acts of kindness toward others. I'll always be grateful for the way she made me feel included, valued, and at home. God bless my Aunt Norm!
