I am in Boston and now absorbing the news of Pastor Mike's homecoming. I am listening to his last sermon as I type this. To his family I say, I am so sorry for this news. Pastor Mike lovingly took care of my father, Arnold Bauer's memorial service. He gave to me in this process a photo album of photos provided through his skills, but even more meaningfully, he drove out to Dividing Creek, where my father was born in a house along the road, and took one of his magnificent photos to accompany the service. When in town, I would visit with him since that time. I was able to worship at Fairfield once of these visits. He was such a gifted pastor!, as noted by others who have written. I had plans to stay in contact with Mike, by brother in the Lord, and my brother as well in an appreciation of photography. This is a great loss.
I would like to express my deepest sympathies to Pastor Mike’s family. I have known Mike for a number of years as a fellow TE in the NJ presbytery PCA. In all those years I found Mike to be a gifted preacher, a very capable leader of his church and leader of the other presbyters—He was a pastor’s pastor. Most of all though I found him to be one who truly loved our Savior and it showed in all he did. I know he will truly be missed especially by his family and his church family. But I also know that one day that all of us who love Mike’s savior too will know then as Mike does now the sweet heavenly fellowship of our Lord.
My deep condolences to Pastor Mike’s family. I became acquainted with Pastor many years ago when I sang at the Cedarville Veteran’s Day ceremonies where Pastor officiated and always did a marvelous job. He recently helped us bury my Aunt, but the memory I will cherish most is the beautiful canvas photograph of the Bull on the Barn he blessed me with a few months ago. I am a professional photographer and always admired his talented photos. I’m from Newport and have loved the Bull on the Barn and it’s locale my entire life. As a teen we grew our own hay and stored it in the barn that is now a restaurant! I simply admired one of his shots and was completely surprised when he presented it to me freely. It will, especially now, be a cherished possession. May God bring you His comfort.
Mike was a fantastic human being. Sadly, I didn't know him as a Pastor but only by a casual friendship through photography. He was always very helpful and kind to me and taught me several new editing programs which greatly enhanced my architectural and historical photography skills. Thanks so much, my friend. There are no words to truly express my sorrow at losing our beloved Pastor Mike. He was my guide in to God's Word, my counselor and my very dear friend. He is in the arms of his Savior and ours.
I could always count on a smile and a strong pat on the back, whenever we met for the BCMA. A always encouraging and thoughtful man of God. His eye to detail and artistry always made me day. To see his photos and just enjoy how he saw the world, was always a blessing. Whenever he would share from the word or just life, you could see his love for God and God's people. Pastor Mike as I always called was a true man of God. I got to know when I was Church Secretary/Clerk at Union Baptist Temple. He would always share an encouraging word and didn’t mind praying if he sensed one ounce of frustration. His memories and the prayers he shared will always linger in my heart. Cheryl (White) Riddick
“Brother” Mike…you have been such a blessing to our family for many years. From your loving powerful words at mom and dads funeral services to inspiring words at Bobs wedding and many prayers and discussions in between. Watching your growth from Turners delivery man to long serving pastor of your own church was nothing short of confirmation of God leading your path in this life. We will all miss you terribly for now….but rejoice in knowing we will all be reunited in His glory in His time. “Well done good and faithful servant.”

Pastor Mike was a vibrant testimony and light in the Bridgeton community and a dear friend. To know him was to know his Savior, with whom he is now rejoicing. So while we will really miss him, this isn't goodbye; this is see you soon one day in heaven, Pastor Mike!
