Margaret "Peggy" Hughes' Obituary
Margaret "Peggy " Hughes of Dover, Delaware passed May 30, 2024 in Kent General Hospital Dover. She had been in declining health for the past several years. She was 83 years old.
Born in Monroeville on September 29, 1940 she was the daughter of the late Franklin and Martha R. "Murray" Pierce and the wife of the late John R. Hughes Jr. who passed in 2007. Peggy and her late husband had previously lived in Fairfield Twp for several years prior to relocating in the Dover area.
Peggy worked for Prudential Insurance for several years as a secretary until her retirement. When she and John moved to Dover, she worked part time at K Mart. She loved doing arts and crafts and especially enjoyed her time Knitting and Crocheting. She also enjoyed attending the local Pow Wows in New Jersey and Millsboro Delaware.
Peggy leaves to cherish her memory her two brothers Donald Pierce and his wife Grace of Ephrata, PA, Kennard Pierce and his wife Susan of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, a host of nieces and nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband John, she was predeceased by her sister in laws, Rachel M Green and Eleanor Hughes Thompson, and a special aunt Linda Loatman.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Thursday July 11, 2024 at 11:00 am in Gouldtown Cemetery where following the service she will be laid to rest next to her husband John.
