Jane Elizabeth Mixner's Obituary
Jane Elizabeth (Conger) Mixner, 91, of Hopewell Township, NJ went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 20 at Friends Home in Woodstown, NJ. She was born in Orange, NJ on April 9, 1921 to the late Kenneth and Jane (Carr) Conger. She served with the American Red Cross in India from 1945-1946. Jane came to Bridgeton and served as the Cumberland County Home Agent for the NJ Extension Service from 1946-1953. She taught elementary students in Stow Creek School, Fairfield Township School, and Mannington School from 1954 until 1983 when she retired. After retirement Jane enjoyed traveling extensively to various foreign countries. She also loved playing her cello with various local orchestral groups and in several churches. She was a member of Deerfield Presbyterian Church and active in the Women’s Guild as well as the Missions Committee over the years. She was a member of the Seven Oaks and Second Fifties clubs. She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons Robert Mixner (Laura) and Lee Mixner, both of Hopewell Township. Jane is also survived by four grandchildren, Aimee Mixner, Jeremiah Mixner (April), Jonathan Mixner, and Nathan Mixner; her compassionate care-giver Angela Onamusi; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Elmer Harris Mixner, Jr., one grandson, Matthew John Mixner, and her sister, Evelyn Caprio. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Thursday, July 26, at 11 o’clock a.m. at Deerfield Presbyterian Church. The inurnment will take place privately. Friends may call on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
