Nathaniel Sanders Jr.

March 9, 1959 - February 23, 2021

Nathaniel Sanders, Jr., 61 years old, of Millville, NJ, departed this life and entered the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 23, 2021. “Nate” as he was affectionately called was born to Nathaniel Sanders, Sr. and the late Dorothy (Jones) Sanders on March 9, 1959, of Cedarville, NJ. Nate attended Seabrook Schools and graduated from Bridgeton High School in 1977. Nate attended Cumberland County College and started his career in the medical field at Bridgeton and Millville Hospitals as a Certified Nursing Assistant. He worked for Bishop McCarthy Center for Rehabilitation and various other nursing homes. Nate ended his career in the casino industry as a pit clerk, before being disabled in a car accident. Nate was a lifelong member of New Hope Baptist Church where he had served as the President of the Singles Ministry for a time. Nate served as the Community Liaison for the Oakview Terrace Apartments because he was always willing to listen to and advocate on behalf of others. Nate had a big heart. He enjoyed meeting people and spending time with his family who were his greatest loves - deeply cherishing his parents and siblings. Nate adored children and loved babysitting his nieces, nephews, and cousins. Nate always kept in touch with the younger people in the family and had no problem keeping them in line. Nate was never one to complain. He lived his life the way he wanted to regardless of what others may have thought. He knew that he only had one life to live and he planned to live it to the fullest - and he did. He would often say, “The World don’t owe me nothing, I might owe it some change.” Nate couldn’t stay mad at anyone. After any disagreement, he would always end with “Okay, love you, see you tomorrow.” He had an old spirit but a young personality. Once you met him you would never forget him and even if he made you mad it wouldn’t last long - you had to laugh and just laughingly say “that’s Nate!” Nate enjoyed entertaining and threw fabulous dinner parties and get-togethers for family and friends. He could cook and clean with the best of them. Nate always had a smile on his face and as so many people have said, “Nate was always humble and was the same no matter where you saw him.” Nate would help anyone he could, any way he could, and had often opened his home to many to help them get back on their feet. Nate truly believed that “we could do all things through Christ who strengthens us.” Nate leaves to cherish his memory his father, the Reverend Nathaniel Sanders, Sr., of Bridgeton, NJ, four siblings: Albert Jones, Sr. (Priscilla) of Millville, NJ, Starlene Holland (Willie Joe) of Bridgeton, NJ, Patricia Harris (Jeffrey) of Upper Deerfield, NJ, and Emmanuel Sanders (Amanda Tartaglia) of Rosenhayn NJ, 12 nieces and nephews, eight grand-nieces and -nephews -- all of whom adored him along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Nate also leaves special friends to cherish his memory: Angel Jones, Eric Wright, Chester Wims, Shirley Singletary. He was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy Sanders, and niece, Katina Jones.
