Harry W. “Butch” Jones, Jr., 72 years of age, of Carneys Point, passed away suddenly on Sunday afternoon in Christiana Medical Center, Christiana, Delaware. Although he had been in failing health for the past several months, his death was unexpected. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Harry W. Sr. and Lolita (nee Cuff) Jones, and the husband of the late Carrie V. “Sisser” (nee Ceaser) Jones who passed in 2011. Butch was a Salem resident for most of his life, graduating from Salem High School, where he ran track and field. He worked for 35 years for Chrysler Corporation until his retirement in 2001. He was a Viet Nam War veteran, serving in the US Army, and was a former member of the Cuff –Barksdale American Legion Post in Salem. He enjoyed gardening, playing horseshoes, word search puzzles, and following the stock market. He is survived by his three children Harry W. Jones III of Carneys Point, Stacy Jones and her husband Chris, of Carneys Point, and Diana Jones Brooks and her husband, Alexander, of Blackwood, his goddaughter, Michelle Mosley Lewis, a brother, Jerome Jones of Quinton, two sisters, Joyce O’Neal of North Carolina, Patricia Hemphill of Georgia, and many nieces, nephews, sister and brother in laws, cousins and various other relatives, and friends. He was predeceased besides his parents and loving wife Carrie, one brother, John Jones. Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. from the SRAY-WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME, 62 Landis Ave. at Carll’s Corner, Upper Deerfield Twp. The interment will be in Salem County War Veterans Cemetery, Rt. 45 Pilesgrove Twp. A viewing will be held on Friday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and again on Saturday morning one hour prior to the services.
