David Manford Ridgway Jr.

It is with incredible sadness that we announce the passing of a man who was a great son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather, uncle, friend, and a joy to all whom had the pleasure of knowing him. David “Dave” Manford Ridgway Jr., 69, of Fairton, NJ, passed away unexpectedly on the morning of September 16, 2025, while doing what he loved most—hunting—in Northern Somerset County, Pierce Pond Township, Maine. Born January 11, 1956, his life was defined by hard work, love for family and friends, and an unmatched passion for the outdoors. An avid hunter and outdoorsman, Dave felt most at home outside. Whether tending his garden, caring for his yard alongside his son David III, or preparing for hunting season, nature was his sanctuary. He cherished his time with the Back Neck Hunting Club and especially looked forward to his annual bear hunting trips to Maine with his buddy Mark Webster, guided by the team at Rough Country Guide Service. Beyond hunting, Dave was a classic car enthusiast and a proud member of the Wheels of Thunder Classic Car Club. He enjoyed countless car shows, but nothing compared to the joy of driving in the Bridgeton Christmas Parade each year, especially when his grandchildren could tag along and assist with tossing candy to the crowd. A skilled HVAC mechanic for over 40 years, Dave was truly a jack of all trades who never hesitated to lend a helping hand. He spent many years working at Gateway Community Action Partnership, where he built lasting friendships and collected stories he loved to share. Dave had a gift for connecting with people. His family lovingly nicknamed him “The Mayor,” as he seemed to know someone everywhere he went—even when he visited other states. His sideways grin, quick wit, teasing jokes, and memorable handshakes will be deeply missed. Family was at the center of Dave’s world. He devoted himself to his wife Maria, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, while always making time for extended family and friends. He made it a point to visit family and friends weekly, making his rounds. His absence leaves an empty chair and an empty space in the hearts of many. “Walk with us, Dave, as we will look for you everywhere we go.” Dave is survived by his loving wife Maria; his daughters Stefanie Sebastian (Brian) and Jeannie Ridgway (Mark Britton); his son David Ridgway III (AnnMarie); his grandchildren Seanna Ridgway (Adam Clark), Samuel Wuzzardo, Ava Sebastian, Nicholas Coombs Jr. (Tiffany Neidigh), Nathanael Hamb, Dominic Ridgway (Asia Holden), and Sunday Darlene Ridgway; his great-grandchildren Nicholas Coombs III and Baylee Coombs; his siblings Allen “Peanut” Ridgway (Pam), Valerie Ridgway (Harry), and Gary Ridgway (Bonnie); as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who became family. He was predeceased by his parents David Ridgway Sr. and Christine “Pat” Ridgway, and his brother Michael Ridgway. Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at the Sray- Webster Funeral Home located on 62 Landis Ave. Bridgeton, NJ 08302, where a visitation will be held from 6-8PM with a eulogy following. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Wheels of Thunder Car Club, c/o David Dean-treasurer, 1028 South Highland Ave., Bridgeton, NJ 08302.
