William E. Wilmore Sr.'s Obituary
DUE TO RECENT WEATHER CONDITIONS: FUNERAL DATE AND LOCATION CHANGED
William E. Wilmore Sr., 66, husband of Elizabeth (nee Cooper) Wilmore peacefully passed away to be with our Lord, on Wednesday October 24, 2012 with his family by his side in South Jersey Regional Medical Center. His transition was sudden and unexpected.
William was the son of the late William Kelly and late Nelsie Linzie. From a very early age, he was raised by his father and the late Marlene Kelly. Born October 3, 1946, William was a lifelong resident of Bridgeton, NJ.
He attended Bridgeton Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1965, having attained perfect attendance throughout his schooling. His involvement in high school included wrestling and track. Upon graduation, William attended Cooper Beauty School of Camden, NJ. He initially worked at Bridgeton Dye and Finishing, Inc. for several years until their re-location. He was currently employed by Progresso General Mills of Vineland, NJ for 31 years. William served for many years as a Committeeman for Local Teamsters #676.
During his senior year in high school, William fell in love with “the girl next door” Elizabeth Ann Cooper and married her in 1969. They celebrated 43 years of marriage.
William participated in the City of Bridgeton Industrial Softball League and played on the Murbeck and later Jim and Co. teams. He was also a fan of both the Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Phillies. His hobbies included listening to Motown music (especially Smokey Robinson) and occasionally watching boxing matches.
He leaves to cherish his memory , wife Elizabeth, two sons William Jr. (Kristi) of Jonesboro, Georgia, and Charles (Iza) of Bridgeton, NJ, eight grandchildren, Dejhon, Adria, Innocent, Miah, Amber, Nehemiah, Valorie, and Charles II, and one great grandchild, Dejhon Jr. He is also survived by five sisters, Wilhemina Bennett of Trenton, NJ, Frances Barresi, Sarah Joann Harrell, Ruth Hands (Eddie) of Bridgeton, Marcia Christie of Newark, NJ, and his brother, Mayor Albert B. Kelly of Bridgeton. He also leaves to cherish his memory, several brother and sister in laws, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents and one sister, Sharon Leigh Kelly.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from GLORY TABERNACLE, 1018 Buckshutem Road, Bridgeton, NJ. The interment will be in Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Hopewell Twp.
Friends may call on Monday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the services at the church.
