William F. Sray's Obituary
On December 9, 2022, William Frank Sray, age 80, left earth for the glory of Heaven. He traded the pain and loneliness he’s endured the last year since the loss of his wife, Susan Sray, for the perfections of eternity with his Savior Jesus Christ. Bill was ready to go home.
A farm boy at heart, Bill bookended his life with time on farms he loved in McDonald, Pennsylvania. A day on the tractor was time well spent, as was time spent lamenting taxes, discussing the stock market, watching football, and enjoying a good meal with his family and friends. When he prayed before those meals, he showed the humility, gratitude, and grace of the best version of himself. A generous man, he was happiest when he paid for those meals and could leave a nice tip.
As a funeral director for 35 years in Bridgeton, NJ, Bill served many families in their own time of grief and loss. He also faithfully served his local communities as a member of the school board, and as mayor and township clerk for Upper Deerfield Township in New Jersey. Never afraid of hard work, he hand dug many of the graves at Overlook Cemetery where he will be buried.
He will be missed by his children; William (Sonja) Sray, Mark (Heidi) Sray, and Karen Sray; his grandchildren, Amelia (Lawrence) Mueller, Benjamin Sray, Mariah Sray, and Micah Sray as well as his great-grandson Henry Mueller. Bill viewed them as a beloved legacy.
The family will welcome the comfort of family and friends on Friday afternoon where a visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00pm with services following at the Sray-Webster Funeral Home in Bridgeton, NJ.
Interment for immediate family will follow the services in Overlook Cemetery, Bridgeton
