William W. Dean Sr.'s Obituary
William W. Dean Sr., aged 76, years of Quinton Twp. passed away suddenly on Friday, November 21, 2014, in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Wilmington, Delaware.
Born in Bridgeton, he was the son of the late William and Laura (nee Goff) Dean, and the husband of Alice (nee Cuff) Dean. Mr. and Mrs. Dean had been residents of the Salem County area for the past 51 years, and had just celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. Bill was formerly employed with Owens Illinois in Bridgeton for several years until his retirement and their closing, and worked in the Owens Glassboro plant as a machine operator. He also worked after his retirement for Pittsgrove Twp. Schools as a custodian. Bill was a veteran of the US Army where he served as an Honor Guard, and was one of the guards for the Tomb of The Unknown soldier. He was a sports fan and loved the NY Giants football team. He also was an avid hunter and fisherman, and especially loved deer and bear hunting in Maine, and New Jersey. He was a quiet man who enjoyed his family, grandchildren and many friends. He is survived by his wife Alice, his four children, Sharon Carney of Florida, William W. “Billy” Dean Jr. and his wife Danielle of Quinton, Dawn Wiese and her husband John of Pennsville, and Duane Dean of Quinton, seven grandchildren and several other relatives. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister Ruth Velasquez. Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Friday November 28, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. from the SRAY-WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME, 62 Landis Ave. at Carll’s Corner, Upper Deerfield Twp. The interment with Military Honors will be in the Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery, Hopewell Twp. Friends may visit the family on Friday morning from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent in Bill’s memory to the Veterans Affairs Medical Center of Delaware, at 1601 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805.
