Wayne Green's Obituary
Wayne Green , 79 of Fairfield Twp. passed away suddenly Friday evening October 17, 2008 in the South Jersey Healthcare Inpatient Hospice Unit, Bridgeton, where he had been a patient for two days. He had been in failing health for only a few months prior to his passing.
Born in Bridgeton he was the son of the late Matthew Sr. and Bertha nee Leonard Green, and the husband of Rachel nee Hughes Green. Mr. Green was a long time resident of the Fairfield area and prior to had grew up and attended Bridgeton public schools. At an early age he developed a love for airplanes and was always building and playing with models. He was a long time member of the South Jersey Radio Control Model Airplane Club and also an Academy Model Aeronautics Member. He was also well known for his meticulous care for his lawn and was always complimented on how good his yard and grass looked. He was formerly employed with Wheaton Industries until his retirement in 1994 as a welder and pipe fitter. After his retirement he was honored to serve as a consultant for Wheaton Industries, traveling to Bejing, China for a month. He loved to listen to classical music, spend coffee time with his many friends and be with his loving family. Mr. and Mrs. Green had just celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on October 8. Surviving him besides his wife Rachel, is his daughter Wendy Green Holmes of New Castle, Delaware, his grandson Wayne G. Holmes of Medford, NJ, and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends. He was predeceased besides his parents by a son Victor Wayne Green, one grandson Augustus S. Holmes III, three sisters Sarah, Octavia, and Alfreda, and one brother Matthew Green Jr.
