Virgie Hughes' Obituary
Virgie L. nee Canada Hughes aged 76 years of Bridgeton, formerly from Key Rock, WV passed away on Sunday morning January 8, 2012 at home under the care of her family. Virgie was born in Saulville, WV and raised in Key Rock, the only child and daughter of the late Creasie Canada. She was a long time resident of Bridgeton, and was the wife of the late Benjamin E. Hughes, who was a retiree of Wheaton Glass Company in Millville.
When first moving to Bridgeton, Virgie worked at Owens Illinois Glass Company until they closed. She then worked for Parties Unlimited and Linens to Go, until her retirement. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Bridgeton, where she taught Sunday School, served as a custodian, was a member of the Ladies Prayer Group, and volunteered at the Bridge Compassionate Ministry Center. She loved her church family and always said, "they are truly family to me". Her wish was for all her family to be happy for her, because she has gone to be with Jesus. She is survived by her son Michael E. Hughes of Bridgeton, two brother in laws Herb and Howard Hughes, and Nicole Brennan, who Virgie loved as a spiritual daughter, all from Fairfield Twp., her sister in law Margaret Kuff of Stow Creek Twp., many cousins Bettye and Coy McCall of Pisgah Forest, NC, Bernice and Donald Drain of Upper Lake, CA, Frances and Carmi Estep, of Oceana WV, Billie Mae Cox of Oceana WV, Patsy McGuire of Pisgah Forest, NC, William and Pat Cox, Quinton VA, Sandra and Gayle McKinney, Pineville, WV, Sadie Lupton, Fairton, NJ, and Vada Taylor of Matheny, WV, and many nieces and nephews.
