Violet Helena Johnson's Obituary
Violet Helena Johnson 94, formerly of Bridgeton, died on Thursday morning , October 27, 2011 in Millville Center, Genesis Nursing Facility, Millville.
Born November 27, 1916 in Bridgeton, to the late Allen Johnson and Cornelius Cuff Stewart, she was the eldest of two children. Her brother was the late Elmer T. Johnson. Violet attended the Bridgeton Public Schools and later attended and graduated from the Philadelphia School of Nursing, where she earned her Licensed Practical Nursing degree. She worked for the Vineland Developmental Center for 25 years. As a young child, she came to Christ and worshipped at King Memorial Interdenominational Church of Christ, Bridgeton, where she was a member for 60 years, serving on the Foreign Missionary Board, Pastor's Aid, and Trustee Boards. Violet was also instrumental in the naming of the church. She also had a love for music and enjoyed playing her piano and organ. She is survived by her son Princoais Leon Lewis Jr. of Harrisburg, PA, two sister in laws Dr. Alberta Johnson of Millville and Aurelis Pierce of Vineland, three nieces, Bertha "Peaches" McCormick of Millville, Patricia Bell of Spring Texas, and Sherri Staton of Vineland, three nephews Asa Pierce Jr., Earl Johnson of Egg Harbor Twp., and Aurelius Pierce, one great niece Robbin Bell, two great nephews, 4 great great nieces and a host of cousins and friends. She was predeceased besides her mother and father, by her brother Elmer T. Johnson, an aunt Neil Turpin, and two half brothers Asa Pierce and Donald Pierce.
