Thomasina Byrd's Obituary
Thomasina "Spanky" Byrd, of Bridgeton, died early Tuesday morning February 9, 2010 in Vineland. Her death was sudden and unexpected.
Born in Lilesville, North Carolina she was the daughter of the late Fred and Minnie Liles Byrd and the step daughter of the late James H. Loatman. She had been an area resident for most of her life.
Thomasina was a homemaker and she enjoyed sewing, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Greater St. Augustine A.M.E. Zion Church of Bridgeton.
Surviving her is her daughter Chastity Simpkins and her husband Michael of Los Angeles, CA, four sisters Mae Pearl Stephens of Bridgeton, Bertha Shaw of Bloomfield, NJ, Brenda Byrd of Clementon, NJ, Anna Davis of Columbus, GA, one brother Roger Loatman of Bridgeton, and her god brother Godfrey Horn of Bridgeton, a special friend Robert Kelly, her five grandchildren Diamond Doyle, Tapanga Simpkins, Mykasia Simpkins, Kayla Simpkins, and Michael Simpkins Jr., and a host of nieces and nephews, and various relatives. She was predeceased besides her parents and stepfather by her sister Tressie Byrd Ingram.
