Syretha Rosella Carter's Obituary
Syretha R. Carter, 94 of Gouldtown, passed away on Wednesday July 17, 2013 in South Jersey Healthcare Hospice Inpatient Center, Bridgeton.
Born in Fairfield Twp. she was the daughter of the late Anthony G. and Louie (nee Cuff) Pierce, and the wife of the late Ralph H. Carter Sr. who passed in 1973. "Miss Sease" as she was affectionately known had been an area resident all of her life.
Miss Sease was a long time member of Trinity A.M.E. Church, Gouldtown and a former member of the Fairfield Volunteer Fire Company #2 Ladies Auxillary. She had formerly worked for Model Blouse Co. for 14 years and the Fairfield Township Board of Education for 10 years in the Gouldtown School cafeteria. She and her late husband, Ralph, also owned and operated for many years Fairmart Deli in Gouldtown. She loved people and especially enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her son Wayne A. Carter and his wife Beverly of Gouldtown; her daughter in law Phyllis Carter of Dover DE; one brother William G. Pierce of Dover, DE; her four grandchildren, Charles Gaines, Wayne Gaines, Josette Carter, Lt Michael Carter USN and his wife Lauren; and seven great grandchildren.
Besides her husband she was predeceased by a son, Ralph H. Carter Jr. in 2011; her daughter, Sarah Marie Pierce in 2007; one brother, Preston Pierce; a sister, Francillia Hughes; and her granddaughter, Amy Carter in 2006.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Wednesday July 24, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. from the Trinity A.M.E. Church, Gouldtown, Rt 49 Bridgeton. The interment will be in Gouldtown Memorial Park, Fairfield Twp. Friends may call on Wednesday morning from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. prior to the services at the church.
