Shirley J Pierce's Obituary
Shirley J. Pierce, 81 of Millville, passed away suddenly Wednesday evening January 25, 2023 in Inspira Medical Center Vineland where she had been a patient for the past week. Born in Seabrook, NJ to the late Leon and Malvinia Gould Saunders and the wife of the late Alvin W. Pierce Sr. who passed away in 2004. Shirley had been a Millville resident for the past year.
Shirley worked for several years until her retirement at COMAR Glass in Vineland. She enjoyed cooking, baking for family and friends, and trips to the casinos. She was a member of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Tribal Nation, and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons Rodney A Pierce of Vineland, and Alvin W. Pierce Jr. and his wife Tammy of Deerfield Twp., three brothers, Marvin Saunders of Buena, Mervin Saunders of Vineland, Robert Saunders and wife Dot of Millville, and her sister Lena Pierce of Vineland, her loving grandchildren, Justin Pierce, Alvin W Pierce III and Lexis Pierce.
Besides her husband Alvin, she was predeceased by her siblings, Gertrude Purnell, Morris Melvin "Holly" Saunders, Leon Rollin Saunders, Joe Saunders, Malvinia Jones, Patricia Saunders, William Saunders, and Michael Saunders.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday morning from 11:00 am till 12:30 pm at the funeral home. At Shirley's request, cremation and interment of the cremains will take place privately at the convenience of the family.
