Ruth Durham's Obituary
Ruth Durham, 95 of Bridgeton and formerly of Gouldtown passed away early Friday morning at the home of her daughter Cordelia Ashton. She had been in declining health for the past year.
Born in Fairfield Twp. she was the daughter of the late Warren and Ruth nee Pierce Gould and the wife of the late William Durham. She had lived in the Gouldtown area all of her life until her health failed. Ruth was a housewife who loved to cook and clean and was very traditional in her way of living and raising her twelve children. She loved to watch soap operas especially General Hospital, and she loved her cat. She was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Bridgeton and the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indian Tribe. She had recently celebrated her birthday on December 12, with her family. She loved her large family and her many grandchildren. Surviving her are three sons Herbert and Charles Durham both of Bridgeton, and William Durham of Vineland, seven daughters Cordelia Ashton , Henrietta Durham, Mary Jane Pierce, and Ruth Ann Pierce all of Bridgeton, Rebecca Pierce of Deerfield Twp., Dorothy Pierce and Ella May Durham both of Gouldtown. Twenty seven grandchildren, forty four great grandchildren , eight great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was predeceased by two sons Elwood Durham and Hughee Durham, two brothers Romaine and Jerry Gould, and two sisters Matilda Lloyd and Rachel Gould.
