Ruth A. Velazquez's Obituary
Ruth A. Velazquez 66, of Bridgeton died early Tuesday morning August 8, 2006 in South Jersey Regional Medical Center. She had been in failing health for several months.
Born in Bridgeton she was the daughter of the late William and Laura nee Goff Dean and the companion of Jorge Velez.
Born with polio, Ruth was the Poster Child for the disease in 1943. She was formerly employed with Wheaton Glass in Millville for many years until her disability forced her to retire.
Surviving her besides her companion Jorge are her mother in law Basilisa Guitterez, four sons Manuel Velazquez and his friend Jennifer King of Bridgeton, Mike Velazquez and his friend Heidi Aponte of Bridgeton, John Velazquez of Bridgeton , and James Velazquez and his wife Sally of Dover, Delaware, one stepson Juan Nieves of Bridgeton, one daughter Angela Velazquez of Bridgeton, and one step daughter Loretta Nieves and her friend Joseph George of Bridgeton, one brother William Dean and his wife Alice of Quinton Twsp. , one step sister Alberta ?Tootsie? Carney of Bridgeton, nineteen grandchildren Nicki Smith, Dawn Willliams, John Velazquez, Michael Velazquez, Daniel Velazquez, John Francia, Megan Francia, Dominic Velazquez, Sarah Garwood, Stephanie Diliome, Destinie Velazquez, Jentil Rivera, Fred Williams, Brielle Velazquez, Samantha George, Mariah George, Charity Nieves, Jillian George, and Jared George, three great grandchildren Jalisa and Jacole Smith, and Caden Perez and nieces and nephews Ed Carney, Mark Carney, and Dee Carney.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a grandson Joseph George Jr., her father in law Santiago Velez, and several aunts and uncles.
Family and friends are invited to attend graveside funeral services on Friday August 11, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. from Fernwood Memorial Park, Hopewell Twsp. Cremation and inurnment will take place in Laurel Lawn Crematory, Upper Deerfield Twsp.
At the request of the family there will be no public viewing. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the SRAY-WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME , 62 Landis Ave. at Carll?s Corner. A gathering of family and friends are invited after services at the Carmel Volunteer Fire Company.
