Rosemary Burton's Obituary
Rosemary Burton, 74 of Gouldtown, NJ Fairfield Twp., passed away Tuesday morning September 20, 2022 in Genesis The Millville Center. She had been in declining health for the past year and half. Born May 2, 1948 in Bridgeton to the late Mary(Dean) and Furman Gould, she was the wife of Joshua E. Burton Jr. and a resident of Gouldtown all of her life.
Rosemary was a graduate of Bridgeton High School class of 1966. Prior to her retirement, she was a
Hairdresser, Teachers aide, and worked for the Cumberland County Board of Social Services Welfare Office for 15 years. She was also the Activities Director at Fairfield Medical Center and the Margaret Winchester Enrichment Center for the Blind, from which she retired.
Rosie was a member of the Trinity AME Church Gouldtown for over 60 years. She was a member of the Alice C. Felts Club, Missionary Society and she served as an Usher. She enjoyed crafts, knitting, reading, watching the cooking channel and spending time with her precious grandsons and family. Rosie was a EAGLES fan, and loved her four legged companion 'Bam-Bam".
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Joshua E. Burton Jr., her children, Maryanne Dixon (Arvey), Joshua III (Emily), her three grandsons, Joshua IV (Kathy), Ashton (Moriah) and Justin(Aylin), four great grandchildren, Joshua the 5th, Dalilah, Ashton Jr. and Tiffani. She is also survived by two sisters, Norene Taylor (Ron) and Evelyn Gould (Vince) and several very special nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Franklin Dean.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Tuesday September 27, 2022 at 12:00pm from the Trinity AME Church, Gouldtown Rt. 49. A visitation will be held from 10;00 till 12:00pm at the church prior to the services. Interment will take place in the Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery, Hopewell Twp.
