Robert Harold Wright Sr.'s Obituary
Robert Harold Wright Sr., better known as “Harold”, age 86 years of Gouldtown, passed away on Monday May 19, 2014. He was born on May 26, 1927 the son of the late Alfred and Rebecca Wynder Wright, and was the husband of Carrie G. Wright. He was a lifetime resident of the area.
Harold graduated from Bridgeton High School and Howard University earning his Bachelor Degree. He furthered his education by attending Glassboro State College receiving his teaching certificate. He began his career as an educator and taught general science in the Bridgeton Junior High School for thirty years.
Harold was an outdoor person who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, motorcycle riding, playing horse shoes and many other sports. He loved playing baseball and later became an umpire for the Garden State Umpire Association. He was a long time member of Trinity A.M.E. Church Gouldtown, a lifetime member of the Fairfield Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 of Gouldtown where he served as secretary for many years and he also served with the Cumberland County Fire Police. Harold also was a member of the Young People Progressive Club of Gouldtown, the Colonial Riders Motorcycle Club of Carmel, NJ and the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indian Tribe of Bridgeton.
He is survived by his wife Carrie Gould Wright of 64 years, his two sons, Robert H. Wright Jr., and his wife Anna Wright, Craig A Wright and his wife Barbara Wright, his sister, Janice Pierce and husband Everett, grandchildren, Esa Staples, Anton Wright, Byron Wright, Laura Wright, Stefanie Wright, Nicole Wright Boneta and her husband Jose, and great-grandchildren, Ayden Staples, Kaylee Wright, and Liliana Boneta.
He was predeceased besides his parents by a son, Alfred G. Wright, grandson, Collin H. Wright, a sister, Gloria Wesley, and brother, Alfred “Rusty” Wright.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday May 24, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. from Trinity A.M.E. Church, Rt. 49 Gouldtown. The interment will be in Gouldtown Memorial Park. Friends may call on Saturday morning at the church from 10:30 to 12:00 p.m. prior to the services.
