Robert C. Johnson Jr.'s Obituary
Robert C. Johnson Jr. (Bob), 72, of Millville passed away on August 15, 2021, at Inspira Medical Center, Vineland. Born in Bridgeton on January 18, 1949, he was the son of the late Robert C. Johnson Sr. and Harriet (Pierce) Johnson.
He was a Vietnam War Veteran having served in the United States Army. Shortly after his return home from service, he began a career at the Vineland Developmental Center as a butcher. After 39 years, he retired as a Food Service Supervisor. He loved spending time with his family and friends as well as playing the lottery, collecting coins, and appreciating classic cars. He was a member of the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Tribal Nation.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 49 years, Cathleen (Pierce) Johnson, three daughters, Christina Godfrey (Danny) of Upper Deerfield, Charlene Johnson of Millville, and Cherilyn Wise of Millville as well as his son Robert C. Johnson III of Bridgeton and eight grandchildren: Brittany, Danny, Brianna, Devon, Bianca, Braylee, Hope, and Faith. He is also survived by his brother, Albert Johnson, a niece, four nephews, three great-nephews, two great-nieces, mother-in-law, Catherine Pierce, two brothers-in-law, Marvin Pierce (Barbara) and Jeffrey Pierce (Alice), sister-in-law, Marcia Pierce, aunts, uncles, and many cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Leon J. Pierce, Jr. and William Turner as well as his son-in-law, Tremayne Wise.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Friday, August 20, 2021, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the SRAY-WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME, 62 Landis Avenue at Carll’s Corner, Upper Deerfield Township. Social Distancing and Masks will be required. At the family’s request, services will be held privately. Internment will take place at Fernwood Memorial Park, Hopewell Township.
