Robert J. Litzinger's Obituary
Robert J. Litzinger, 80 of Back Neck Fairton, passed away Thursday afternoon June 7, 2012 in South Jersey Healthcare Hospice Inpatient Center, Bridgeton, where he had been a patient since Saturday. Born in Johnstown, PA, he was the son of the late Carl J. and Catherine nee Bushwack Litzinger, and the companion of Lydia Haydak.
Bob had been an area resident for the past 40 years, and had spent his youth, growing up in Johnstown. He was an avid bird hunter and outdoorsman, and enjoyed raising, training and grooming hunting dogs. He was a member of the Quinton Sportsman's Club, and loved shooting skeet. Bob was a US Veteran and served from 1951 – 1953 in the 82nd Airborne, as a paratrooper. He enjoyed playing cards and was a former Cumberland County Pinochle Champion. He enjoyed life, and loved spending time with his family and many friends. Bob is survived by his companion Lydia Haydak of Elmer, his brothers and sisters David C. Litzinger and his wife Toni of Fairton, Patrick J. Litzinger and his wife Sandy of Illinois, Larry W. Litzinger of Mays Landing, Michael P. Litzinger of Deepwater, Carol Pierce of Mays Landing, Cynthia M. Woody of Georgia, and his three beagles Nellie, Bell, and Ron. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother William Litzinger, and sisters, Joan Fay Litzinger, Shirley A. Riley, and Laverne Litzinger. Honoring Bob's request his body was donated to the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Anatomical Association. There will be a Celebration of Bob's Life which will be announced to family and friends, at a later date.
