Robert Dawkins' Obituary
Robert Dawkins of Hopewell Twp. passed away late Friday afternoon in the Cumberland Manor where he had been a resident for the past four years. He was 90 years old. Born in Gaffney, South Carolina on August 22,1932 he was the son of the late Worth and Bessie (Shippey) Dawkins and the husband of Lucille (Smith) Dawkins.
Robert as a young man worked at the Basket Factory on Bank Street in Bridgeton for a few years. His interest in working on cars however led him to a trade he would work until his retirement in 1994 from Pep Boys at both the former Bridgeton location and Vineland. He enjoyed mechanic work and worked at Pep Boys for forty years. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and providing game for his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Lucille of Woodstown, his children; Joan Donaldson of Bridgeton, Wade Dawkins of Plesantville, Larry Dawkins of Woodstown, Venessa Dawkins of of Woodstown, Albert Dawkins of Bridgeton, Darlene Dawkins Miller of Fairfield Twp., Sherri Dawkins Copeland of Mount Hooly and Margie Walker Williams of Vineland., a sister Sarah Smith of South Carolina, and brother Worth Dawkins Jr. of Washington DC, many grandchildren and extended family and friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son Robert Dawkins Jr.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Wednesday September 7, 2022 at 11:00 am from the SRAY-WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME 62 Landis Ave. at Carll's Corner, Upper Deerfield Twp. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. The interment will be in Fernwood Memorial Park, Hopewell Twp.
