Ricky W. Pierce's Obituary
Ricky W. Pierce, 47 of Fairfield Twp. passed away Monday evening April 18, 2011 in Cooper Medical Center, Camden, where he had been a patient for the past two weeks. Although he had been in declining health for some time, his death was sudden and unexpected.
Born in Bridgeton, he was the son of Maynard P. Pierce Sr. and the late Elizabeth "Betty" nee Jackson Pierce, and the husband of Brenda nee Gilliam Pierce. Ricky grew up in Gouldtown and attended the Fairfield Twp. school system. He was a graduating member of the Cumberland Regional High School class of 1981, where he played basketball. In his younger years he played Little League baseball in Bridgeton, playing for Local 239. In 1991, he married his high school sweetheart, Brenda, and they built their home in Fairfield Twp. He was a former member of the Gouldtown Volunteer Fire Co. #2, and he enjoyed sports, and outdoor cooking. Ricky was a quiet person, who enjoyed and loved his family and friends. He will truly be missed. Surviving him besides his wife Brenda, are his father and stepmother Maynard Pierce Sr. and Martina of North Carolina, his mother in law and stepfather in law Alease and Leon Broughton of Bridgeton, one brother Maynard Pierce Jr. and his wife Diedre of Stow Creek Twp., one sister Valerie Brown and her husband Sherwood of Fairfield Twp., two sister in laws Bertha Brooks of Seabrook, and Bernice Hudnall and her husband Frank of Bridgeton, his godson Armani King of West Deptford, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Ricky was predeceased by his mother Betty Pierce in 1988.
