Raymond E. Pierce's Obituary
Raymond E. Pierce, 92, of Millville passed away surrounded by family at his home on Wednesday June 4, 2025. A lifetime resident of the area, Raymond was born October 28, 1932 to the late Mary Elizabeth (Coombs) and Israel Pierce in Bridgeton, NJ. He was the husband of the late Rebecca (Gould) Pierce, who passed in 2018.
Raymond was a locally renowned pitmaster, he enjoyed cooking BBQ, especially chicken and ribs. He worked for Rode’s Catering in Swedesboro as a chef for almost 60 years, which grew from wholesale food delivery to restaurants and full service catering during that time. Outside of career, Raymond enjoyed fishing, and he was a devoted fan of both the Philadelphia Eagles football and Phillies baseball teams. He was a former member of the Carmel Volunteer Fire Department, which served Deerfield Township for many years. As he grew older, he enjoyed the opportunity to relax and enjoy a smoke from his traditional style tobacco pipe. Mostly, Raymond enjoyed spending time with his family, which included his children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and his dog pet companion Eddie.
Raymond leaves his legacy to be cherished by his children Richard Lee Pierce Sr., Rosemary Egbert, Roy A. Pierce, and Rebecca Renee Pierce, five grandchildren Temika Pierce, Richard Pierce Jr., James W. Wandall, Danielle Pierce, and Evan Pierce, and six great grandchildren Kyle, Ronnie Jr., Stephon, Arianna, Annelisse, and Gianna amongst a host of additional family and friends.
Raymond was predeceased by his parents Mary Elizabeth (Coombs) and Israel Pierce, his wife Rebecca (Gould) Pierce, sister Sarah Pierce, brothers Theodore and Israel Pierce, and two sons Raymond J. Pierce Jr. and Ronnie A. Pierce.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Friday at 12PM at the SRAY-WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME, 62 Landis Ave. at Carll’s Corner, Upper Deerfield Twp. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10AM- 12PM. The interment will be in Fordville Memorial Park, Fairfield Twp.
