Paul J. Ridgeway Jr.'s Obituary
Paul J. “Butch” Ridgeway Jr. 70 of Vineland passed away on Saturday morning July 27, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his family. He had been in failing health for only a short time.
Born in Fairfield Twp. he was the son of the late Paul J. and Vella (nee Cuff) Ridgeway and the husband of Judith (nee Cunningham) Ridgeway. He had been an area resident all of his life. Paul was previously employed as a salesman for ADT Alarms for 15 years, and also had owned and operated PJ Landscaping and Home Maintenance for several years. He had also previously worked at the Salem Nuclear Plant as a crane operator and union laborer. Paul was a veteran of the Viet Nam War, serving in the U.S. Army, and was honorably discharged in 1964. He was a proud member of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indian Tribe of Bridgeton, where he was given his Indian name of “Standing Bear Rising”. He loved his family and many friends and will truly be missed by all. He is survived by his wife, Judith; his son, Matthew I Cunningham-Ridgeway of Vineland; his two sisters, Helen Morris and husband Carlos of Cheswold, Delaware, and Emma Saunders of Cedarville; his grandson, Matthew I. Cunningham-Ridgeway Jr.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Ireland Gabrielle Cunningham-Ridgeway in 2005. Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday August 3, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. from the SRAY-WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME, 62 Landis Ave. at Carll’s Corner, Upper Deerfield Twp. The internment will take place at a later date in the Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery, Hopewell Twp. Friends may call on Saturday morning from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the services.
