Patrick F. Cassidy, Sr.'s Obituary
Patrick F. Cassidy Sr., aged 81 years of Bridgeton, died suddenly on Monday June 6, 2016 in Inspira Medical Center, Vineland. Although he had been in failing health, his death was sudden and unexpected. Born in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late John T. and Claira Cecelia (nee O’Rourke) Cassidy and the husband of Dorothy (nee Lee) Cassidy.
Patrick had been an area resident since 1955 and had formerly worked at Owens Illinois for 30 years until their closing and Bayside State Prison as a corrections officer where he retired as Sergeant for fifteen years. He served in the US Marine Corp where he earned many medals and citations and was a proud US Veteran. He was a former member of the Bridgeton VFW Post, American Legion Shoemaker Post 95, Moose, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed fishing, horse racing, and taking his family to parks and zoos where he especially enjoyed watching the ducks.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy, children; Peggy Mecouch (Ken), Tracey Smith (Bill), Brenda Cassidy (Bob), Martha Geri (Anthony), Patrick Cassidy Jr. (Pam) & Chris Lee Sr. (Donna), siblings; Mary Donato (Anthony), Robert Cassidy, Paul Cassidy (Bonnie), Theresa Cassidy, Susan Cassidy & Peggy Colvard, sisters-in-laws; Olga, Sarah & Dot Cassidy, a brother-in-law; Angelo Caccamo, 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife Myrtle (nee Cox) Cassidy, a daughter, Regina Turner, siblings; Edward Cassidy, Claire Cacamo, John T. Cassidy Jr., George Cassidy, Joseph Cassidy, Jerome Cassidy, Regina & Joseph Kristovich, Cathy Cassidy, brother-in-law; James Colvard and a great granddaughter Cassidy Ramos.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday June 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the SRAY-WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME, 62 Landis Ave., Carl’s Corner, Upper Deerfield Twp. A visitation with family will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the services.
The interment of the cremated remains will be interred with Military Honors in the Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery, Hopewell Twp. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in memory be sent to the Wounded Warriors Project, PO Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675.
