Mary Jane Harris' Obituary
Mary Jane Harris, 77 of Greenwich Twp. went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday evening April 28, 2010 at her residence with her family and friends by her side. She had been in declining health for the past 10 years.
Born in Smyrna, Delaware, she was the daughter of the late Preston Lee Crow Clark Sammons and Nellie nee Carney Sammons Morgan, and the wife of Woodrow J. Harris Jr.. Mary Jane was predeceased by her first husband Earnest D. Carney. Jane as she was known was a long time resident of the Springtown , Greenwich area and had lived there for the past 68 years, after moving from Delaware, she and Woody would have celebrated 40 years of marriage next month. She was formerly employed with Bridgeton Hospital in Housekeeping for 23 years until her retirement in 1992. She was a long time member of St. John United Methodist Church, Fordville, but for the past 6 years she attended Glory Tabernacle Church. Jane was a member of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indian Tribe of Bridgeton, and she enjoyed bowling, traveling with her husband Woody, crocheting, and teasing with family and her many friends. She was always seen with a loving smile and will be truly missed by all. Surviving her to cherish her memory are her husband Woodrow J. Harris Jr., her loving children Alice Deborah Pierce and her husband Alfred of Deerfield Twp., Linda J. White and her husband Martin of Greenwich Twp., Thomas Christopher Harris and his wife Deanna of Bridgeton, and Keith Goldsborough and his wife Vera of Florida, her three brothers Muhammed Sammons of Hamilton, NJ, Benjamin "Sonny" Morgan of Houston, TX, Jerold "Jerry" Morgan of Baltimore, MD, two sisters Della Lockman of Columbus, OH, and Joanne Boulay of Worchester, Mass. , two great aunts Alice Carney and Sadie Seeney both of Hopewell Twp., 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents and first husband, she was predeceased by a brother Preston Sammons and two sisters Betty White and Thelma Irene Ridgeway.
