Maria Sheppard's Obituary
Maria Sheppard, age 74, of Fairton, passed away on Tuesday September 3, 2013 with her family by her side in South Jersey Healthcare Hospice Care Inpatient Unit, Bridgeton.
Born in Rothenworth Bavaria, Germany, she was the wife of Kenneth L. Sheppard. Maria had been an area resident since 1960 when she came to the United States. Maria was an officer of Sheppard Bus Company, and served in many capacities within the business along with her husband and son John. She enjoyed her memberships with both the Bridgeton Research Club and the Cumberland County Historical Society. She also volunteered for many years at the Bridgeton Hospital. She enjoyed listening to classical music, but mainly loved being a devoted wife, mother, and “Oma” Grandmother. Maria is survived by her husband, Kenneth L. Sheppard ; her daughter, Marianne Lunsford; son, John Sheppard and his wife Kelly; her loving grandchildren whom she adored, Quinn, John, Henry, and Stella Sheppard; one sister, Thekla Richkau of Erding, Germany; and many nieces, nephews and various relatives and friends both here and in Germany. A memorial service honoring Maria’s life will be held on Thursday September 12, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. from the SRAY-WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME, 62 Landis Ave. at Carll’s Corner, Upper Deerfield Twp. Cremation and inurnment took place in Camden County Crematory, Waterford Twp.
Friends may call from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
