Lydia R. Lockman's Obituary
Lydia R. Lockman, aged 89 years of Hopewell Twp., passed away on Sunday morning October 2, 2016 in the Cumberland Manor after an extended illness.
Born in Cedarville, NJ she was the daughter of the late Frank Leslie Benjamin Munson and Minnie Florence (nee Johnson) Munson, and the wife of Belford S. Lockman Sr. who passed away in 1995. Lydia had been an area resident all of her life, and had previously worked as a Cafeteria Aide in the Bridgeton public schools for 25 years until her retirement. She was a lifelong member of St. John United Methodist Church Fordville, and enjoyed cooking, sewing, and going on camping trips with her family. She also loved exercising to keep herself fit. Lydia was a beautiful lady who was never seen with a hair out of place. She truly loved her family and will be missed by many.
Surviving her are her daughters: Carol Mitchell and her husband Benjamin Mitchell Jr., of Bridgeton, and Jane Bray of Bridgeton; her grandchildren: Stephanie Mitchell, Benjamin Mitchell III, and Latoshya Cox; her great grandchildren: Branden Roberson, Jalen Mitchell, Jazmine Henderson, and many many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Belford S. Lockman Jr.; sisters, Sadie May Lockman, Rose Marie Ridgeway; and brothers, Charles Henry Munson, Leroy Munson, and Frank L. Munson; and a son in law, Clarence Bray.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 8, 2016 at 12:00p.m. from the St. John United Methodist Church, 680 Fordville Road, Fairfield Twp. A viewing will be held from 11:00a.m. till 12:00p.m. prior to the services at the church. The interment will take place in the Fordville Memorial Park, church cemetery.
