Lillian S. Ackley, 96 of Deerfield St. died early Wednesday evening February 18, 2009 at her residence surrounded by her family. She had been in failing health for the past two months. Lillian was born in Deerfield St., NJ Read Obituary

The members of the Class of 1966 send their condolences. Many of us remember Miss Ackley as a person who believed that students from Salem High School had great potential and could be anybody they wanted to be if they only put in the effort and hard work.

Miss Ackley was an individual that worked very closely with me to get me into college. Without her "guidance" I would not be where I am today. Four great years at Delaware Valley College 65, 26 wonderful years in the USAF as a pilot, and a great follow on career. She was a wonderful person that words can never express. We remained in contact for years at Christmas, only to lose contact about two years ago. She gave me a book, Living Letters upon my graduation from college which I still have. What wonderful memories I have of a very quiet and kind guidance counselor. She gave me direction on becoming a nurse. I have never regretted that choice. I graduated in 1960 from Salem High School.
