Leroy C Jones Jr's Obituary
Leroy C. Jones Jr., of Vineland and formerly of Fairfield Twp., passed away in the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home on Tuesday afternoon under the care of Hospice and his loving family. Born in Bridgeton, he was the son of the late Leroy C Sr. and Grace Emily (Sammons) Jones and the husband of Maria (Becky) Jones who passed in 2018.
Leroy was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and met his wife Becky while stationed in California, they were married and lived in Connecticut until moving to this area in 1972. He was formerly employed while in Connecticut with the Colt Firearms Manufacturing Company and later with DuPont after moving back to Bridgeton. He was a proud member of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Tribal Nation of Bridgeton; he and his wife would volunteer at Pow Wows working in the kitchen helping make Frye Bread. He loved working on antique cars and enjoyed hunting. He also enjoyed spending time in his yard, and loved spending time with his grandchildren and keeping his family straight. He had a tradition of cooking Sunday breakfasts for the family and playing Elvis music during that time spent with them. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his children: Theresa Carney and her husband Mark, David Jones and his wife Michele all of Fairfield Twp., Greg Jones and his wife Marianne of Bridgeton, Leroy Jones and his wife Maria of North Augusta, South Carolina, his grandchildren; Danielle Browning, Ashton Hourihan, Erianna McRimmon, Amber Jones, Marc Jones, Kameron Jones, Michael Jones, Elaina Jones, six great grandchildren, Isabella Hildrith, Axel Brown, Oakland Brown, Lane Browning, Shane Browning and Owen Hourihan.
Besides his parents and wife Becky, he was predeceased by his brother Thomas Goldie Jones and sister in law Judith Gould Jones, and two nephews Tommy and Melvin Jones.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday August 31, 2024 at 12:00 pm from the funeral home. Interment with military honors will take place in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Cedarville. A visitation will be held from 11:00 till 12:00 noon at the funeral home.
