Leona I. Gould's Obituary
Leona I. Gould 76, of Bridgeton, NJ quietly passed away Tuesday morning October 2, 2007, at her residence, after an extended illness. She had been in failing health for the past thirty years.
Leona was the daughter of the late Arthur R. Sr. and Irene E. nee Hicks Gould, she was born and raised in Camden, NJ where she attended the Camden City Public School System. “Lony” as she was affectionately known to friends and family, joined Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in Camden as a young child. Leona graduated from Glassboro State College now Rowan University in preparation for her longstanding career as a teacher. She began her teaching career in Merchantville, NJ and later retired from Fairfield Township School District after serving more than thirty years as a second grade teacher. Leona is survived by her dear friend Philip Nelson, three brothers Darrell Gould of Pine Hill, NJ, Joseph Gould of Willingboro, NJ, and Philip Gould of Edgewater Park, NJ, three sisters, Darlene Colson of Virginia Beach, VA, Shirley Banks of Delanco, NJ and Sylvia Hull of Sicklerville, NJ, and a host of nieces, nephews, family , friends and many former students. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by four brothers William, Franklin, Arthur, and Madison, and four sisters Lola, Harriett, Christine, and Henrietta.
