Leon D Muskrat Still Sr's Obituary
Leon D. Still Sr. gained his Eternal Wings and went home to be with his Lord and Savior early Thursday morning March 7, 2024 in Inspira Medical Center, Vineland.

During his early years, Leon attended elementary school in Bridgeton, where, before heading to school in the mornings, he would trap Muskrats along the nearby waterways and then sell the bounty to his teachers upon arrival. From those days on, he was known by so many not by Leon but “Muskrat Still”.
In March of 1955, Leon joined the United States Navy where he proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in September 1957. He then obtained employment in the construction field working for many years until his retirement at the Salem Nuclear Generating Plant in Lower Alloway Creek. After his retirement he couldn’t sit idle and worked for several years with Bob Novick Automall where he never met a customer that was a stranger. Leon (Muskrat) was always one to give back to the community and was a Lifetime Member of Fairfield Volunteer Fire Company No 2 Gouldtown where he formerly served as President. He was also the former Chief , 3rd Assistant and Chaplain of the Cumberland County Fire Police until his health wouldn’t allow him to go out and take part in the calls. He coached Little League Baseball in Fairfield Twp and was instrumental in establishing the ball fields and Baseball program in the Twp. He was a member of Samuel J. Roberts Elks Lodge in Bridgeton and was a member of the Twirling Rifles, performing in many downtown parades. He served as President of the Colonial Riders Motorcycle Club in Carmel and in his later years enjoyed camping on the clubs grounds with friends and family. Leon (muskrat) was well known for his stylish sharp cars and trucks. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and made a significant contribution to the community. His infectious smile will be missed by many. Rest In Peace Muskrat!
