Leo J. Uhland Sr.'s Obituary
Leo J. Uhland, Sr., age 94, of Bridgeton, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, February 18, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Joseph and Helen (Elk) Uhland and was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Ruby T. (Barnett) Uhland.
Leo spent his early life on the family farm in Roadstown. He spent a majority of his adult life as a carpenter and as a self-employed painter. He was a former trustee and lifetime member of the Berean Baptist Church. In his later years he enjoyed walking, fishing, scrapping, and spending time with his family. Leo is survived by his three sons, Leo, Jr. and his wife Cheryl, Dennis S., and Harold and his wife Patty, all of Bridgeton, his grandchildren, Lynetta (Jere) Strange, Scott (Rachel) Uhland, Harold Mark (Kelly) Uhland and Alison, and his great-grandchildren, Samantha, Sophia, Scotlynn, Alex, Noelle, and James. One of twelve children, Leo was predeceased by eight siblings and is survived by Violet White, Lawrence (Barney) Uhland, and Ronald Uhland. A viewing will be held on Tuesday night, February 21, 2017 from 6-8 PM at the Sray Webster Funeral Home, 62 Landis Avenue, Bridgeton, NJ 08302. Friends and relatives will also be received on Wednesday morning for a viewing at 10 AM followed by the funeral service at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
