Karen E. Green's Obituary
Karen E."Strong Wind" Green, 48 of Fairfield Twp. died late Thursday afternoon August 13, 2009 in South Jersey Regional Medical Center. She had been in failing health for the past year.
Born in Bridgeton, she was the daughter of Raymond "Flicker" and Rose Marie nee Munson Ridgeway, and the wife of Charles "Buzz" Green. She had been a resident of Fairfield Twp. for several years and prior to had lived in both Bridgeton and Cheswold, Delaware. Karen attended the Bridgeton public schools and was a 1979 graduate of Bridgeton High School, she formerly worked as a secretary for Cumberland County College, taught GED certification for Millville Housing Service and worked as a School Bus Aide for Sheppard Bus Service. Karen was a member of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indians of Bridgeton and served as Tribal Co -Chairperson on Tribal Council. She was also a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Fordville. She loved cooking and watching cooking shows on television and trying new recipes. She and her husband operated Buzzard's Barbeque Stand for several years until her health started to fail. She also loved gardening and bird watching, but mostly she enjoyed being around family and friends. Surviving her besides her husband Charles are her mother and father Raymond and Rose Marie Ridgeway of Bridgeton, her mother in law Margaret Kuff of Stow Creek Twp., two sons Charles "BJ" Green and his wife Deloria of Fairfield Twp. and Carl Green of Fairfield Twp., her granddaughter Kiyleen Joy Kenton, one God daughter Lakeisha Pierce, two sisters Rena Pierce and her husband Albert of Bridgeton, Tangela Ridgeway of Quinton Twp., three brothers, Raymond Ridgeway and his wife Rachel of Texas, Wayne Ridgeway of Cheswold, DE, and Urie Ridgeway and his wife Saiyida of Toms River, God parents Marshall and Sarah V. Durham of Dover, DE; two brother in laws Robert and Oliver Green both of Bridgeton, and three sister in laws Juanita Figueroa of Bridgeton, and Carnelia Pierce and Maria Green of Fairfield Twp., several aunts, uncles, nieces , nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her father in law Alexander Green and step father in law Calvin Kuff, three brother in laws Joseph, Alexander, and John Green.
