Julia Elizabeth Ridgway's Obituary
Julia Elizabeth Ridgway of Fairfield Twp. passed away peacefully Monday morning February 6, 2023, one day after celebrating her 82nd birthday, with her husband and children by her side. Born in Fairfield Twp. February 5, 1941 to the late Melvin Oscar and Julia K. Pierce Clarke, and the wife of Donald Ridgway. Julia had been an area resident all of her life.
Julia attended Bridgeton Public Schools and also Cumberland County College. She graduated from the Vineland Beauty Academy where she received her Cosmetology degree. She went on to work for 25 years until her retirement in 2005 with South Jersey Hospital System. She was a former member of the Chestnut Assembly of God Church Vineland and Bridgeton Assembly of God Church where she was active in Womens Ministry and the Card Ministry in the reading rooms. She was a member of the Fairfield Twp. Taxpayers Association, the Humane Society of the United States, the Cumberland County ASPCA and PETA. She loved animals, caring for and nurturing houseplants, and collecting anything Pewter. She enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren, and all family outings. She was a fan of football and each summer especially loved attending the Cumberland County Fair.
She is survived by her husband Donald, her children, Franklin Durham Jr. of California, Eric Durham of Millville, Christopher Durham and Christine of Vineland, Melvyn Durham and Julie of California, Brenda Durham and Leon of Bridgeton, and Sherri Durham of Rosenhayn, ten grandchildren, Tameeka Durham, Erica Durham, Marche Durham, Julian Durham, Tiffany Jones, Shanaira Durham, Brandon Durham, Kassandra Durham, Kaelyn Canup, Russell Garrison, eleven great grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Christine Ridgway, a brother Warren Gould, and her nephew Michael Ridgway.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday morning February 11, 2023 10:00am at the SRAY-WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Twp. at Carll's Corner. The Rev. Herbert Pierce pastor of Heavens Saints Ministries will officiate. The Interment will be in Overlook Cemetery, Bridgeton. Friends may call on Saturday morning from 9:00 am till 10:00 prior to the services.
