Juan Figueroa's Obituary
Juan Figueroa Concepcion, of Cedarville, New Jersey, departed this earth on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer.
Juan was born on November 30, 1960, in Cidra, Puerto Rico. He moved to New Jersey in 1979. He held several career positions, including recruiting for Bridgeton Public Schools, assisting immigrant families in signing their children up for school. After his time with the school district, Juan joined Bally’s as a heavy porter and worked there for 11 years. In 1998, he joined Custom Building Products in Logan Township, where he worked until he retired. During his retirement, he worked as a cafeteria aide for Commercial Township School.
In November of 1980, he married the love of his life Wonneta Green. Their first son, Juan Alexix, was born in October the following year. They added to their family with a daughter, Wonneta Maria, in February of 1984, and completed their circle with another son, Felix Joel, in February of 1988. The family remained local, living in various locations around the city of Bridgeton, New Jersey, before settling into their first family home on Bank Street, where memories and lifelong friends and connections were created.
In 2015, the family moved to Cedarville, New Jersey, where Juan, affectionately known as “Pop”, spent his time tending to his small garden, his pet goats, and chickens. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching the Phillies, Eagles, and Sixers on television. Before his untimely passing, he attended the Phillies versus the Yankees, with his youngest son, Felix. One of Pop’s greatest joys was spending time outdoors with his family, especially his grandchildren. Juan is survived by his wife of 43 years, Wonneta, his oldest son Juan (Kristen), his daughter Wonneta (Stephen), his youngest son Felix, and two adopted daughters, Dorann Brown and Kyara Wilson; his grandchildren: DeJuan F., Julian H., Amaya F., Kenyon F., Opalanie C., Jace B., Aihamikwen C., and Elianna B., as well as n a host of nieces, nephews, and family friends whose children have called him Papi, Pop-Pop, or Uncle Juan along the way.
Juan also leaves his memories to be cherished by his mother, Carmen N Concepcion, his siblings: Olga L., Jose M. (Iris R.), Felix (Dolly), Luis H., Jorge L., Carmen D., Jose A. (Elsie), and Juan C. (Elia). Juan was predeceased by his father, Felipe, in 2010.
