Joyce Hopson's Obituary
Joyce Rhoda Hopson, 81 of Bridgeton and formerly of Salem, passed Saturday morning at the home of her caregiver and niece Beverly Jones under the care of Hospice. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Nelson Jr. and Dorothy Dunn Cuff and the wife of the late Edwin Hopson Sr.
Joyce attend school in Salem and was a 1959 graduate of Salem High School. After school she worked for the Theber Dress Company in Bridgeton and later for B&B Poultry in Vineland. She attended Salem County Community College and in 1980 and graduated with her associates degree. Joyce then went to work for Chrysler Corporation in Delaware until her retirement in 2003. She also did substitute teaching. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah AME Church in Salem, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her son Edwin Hopson Jr. of Bridgeton, her sister Narissa Pierce and her husband Robert of Bridgeton who were also her caregiver's for several years, her brother Lawrence "Buddy" Cuff and his wife Lucy, her niece Beverly Jones, two grandchildren Asher Hopson and Rayne Hopson and several nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a son Douglas Hopson, two brothers, Merris Cuff and Leslie Cuff, five sisters, Virginia Valentine, Betty Wright, Hazel Gould, Eleanor Cuff, and Doris Mae Street.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Thursday August 18, 2022 at 12:00pm at the funeral home. A visitation will be held from 11:00 till 12:00 prior to the services. The interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Salem.
