Joseph Earl Saunders' Obituary
Joseph Earl Saunders 73, of Fairton, passed away on Thursday afternoon April 5, 2012 at home with his family by his side, under the care of Hospice. He had only been seriously ill since November.
Born in Rosenhayn, he was the son of the late Leon and Malvenia nee Gould Saunders, and the husband of Susan nee Ferguson Saunders. Joe was a chef by trade and began his career at the age of 17 while working at the former Centerton Country Club. He and his wife Sue were self employed for 20 years managing several restaurants in the area. Joe had been currently employed for the past five years with the Bait Box Restaurant in Greenwich. Cooking was a passion he enjoyed and for several years he was the head cook during deer week for the Double Oaks Gun Club. He also enjoyed raising a garden, working in his yard, feeding and watching birds, and spending time with his dog Daisey. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Susan, his nine children Judith Edwards of Camden, Joanne Wade and her husband Alanzo, of Bridgeton, Malvine Trent of Millville, Joseph Saunders of Vineland, Richard Trent of Philadelphia, Benjamin Trent of Millville, Walter Trent of Pennsylvania, Bruce Saunders and Tony Saunders, both of Delaware, his two sisters Shirley Pierce of Vineland, Lena Pierce and her husband Robert also of Vineland, Bobby Saunders and his wife Dot of Seabrook, Marvin Saunders of Bridgeton, and Mervin Saunders and his wife Shelia of Vineland, 23 grandchildren , 23 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews and other family. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son and grandson.
