John E. Wehrwein's Obituary
John E. Wehrwein, 86, of Millville, NJ died Saturday evening August 23, 2014 in Lincoln Specialty Care Vineland after a long battle with dementia. Born in Philadelphia he was the son of the late John Wehrwein and Viola Olsen Wehrwein. John grew up in South Philadelphia, and was drafted into the U.S. Army at the age of 18 where he served in the medic unit. Upon his discharge from the Army he worked as a diesel mechanic until his initial retirement at 65, bringing his love of automotive work home with him to his own garage on many occasions. After retiring John worked as a security guard at Trump Taj Mahal Casino and was known as “The Candy Man” as he loved to hand candies to his co-workers during his shift. He loved crossword puzzles, Klondike bars, Italian subs and telling stories from his past. He was affectionately known as “Johnny Baccala” to the caring staff at Lincoln Specialty Care where he spent his last surviving years. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his daughter Dorothy Manera and son John Wehrwein Jr., and his two grandchildren all from the Millville area. Funeral services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. To send condolences and expressions of sympathy to the family, please visit www.sraywebsterfuneralhome.com.
