John S. Nelson Jr.'s Obituary
John S. Nelson Jr., of Elmer, passed away Friday afternoon at his residence under the care of Hospice and with his wife Charlotte by his side. He had been in declining health for the past 17 months. John was 79 years old. Born November 23, 1940 in Bridgeton, NJ to the late John S. Sr. and Elizabeth (nee Jenkins) Nelson, he was the husband of Charlotte (nee Castagna) Nelson. He was a lifelong resident of the Elmer area.
Jack as he was often called was a 1959 graduate of Bridgeton High School and a 1963 graduate of Gorden College of Massachusetts where he earned his Bachelors Degree. Jack worked for the Social Security Administration in Philadelphia as a Claims Authorizer for 32 years until his retirement. Jack was an avid reader and a brilliant man who could do almost anything, whether it be Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, or Automotive, Jack did it all and did it well.
Jack and Charlotte attended Deerfield Presbyterian Church. He was a quiet and a very private kind of guy who listened and thought before he spoke. He will truly be missed.
Surviving him is his wife, Charlotte, of 14 years, his stepson, Marc DuBrier of Philadelphia, his three brothers, David, James, and Don Nelson and their families, many friends, and extended relatives.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Tuesday February 18, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. from the SRAY-WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME 62 Landis Ave. at Carll’s Corner, Upper Deerfield Twp. Rev. Dr. Kenneth Larter will officiate. The interment will take place in the family plot in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Elmer. A visitation will be held from 10:00 till 11:30 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
