John M. Bonham's Obituary
John Jack M. Bonham 84, of Hopewell Twp. died early Monday morning March 3, 2008 at his residence, surrounded by his family. He had been in failing health for the past several months.
Born on the family farm in Hopewell Twp. he was the son of the late Chester S. and Lottie nee Sampson Bonham and the husband of Sarah Sally L. nee Bateman Bonham. Mr. Bonham had been a resident of the Hopewell area all of his life. Jack as he was known worked as a dairy farmer and poultry farmer for over twenty years until his retirement in 2004. In 1977 , he and his sons opened Bonham's Butcher Shop, which remained open until 2006. He was a member of the Shiloh Grange #16, and a former member of the Shiloh Deer Club. He was a member of the Deerfield Presbyterian Church where he served as a trustee. He also was formerly active in the West Cumberland Little League where he was an umpire. Surviving him besides his wife Sarah of 59 years are one son Thomas A. Bonham and his wife Kathy of Hopewell Twp., and one daughter Patricia Strosnider and her husband Stephen of Hopewell Twp., one sister Charlotte Lupton of Shiloh, seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Besides his parents he was predeceased by two sons Richard J. Bonham and Kenneth L. Bonham, one brother Chester A. Bonham, and one sister Mary VanLier.
