Joel Clayton Webster's Obituary
Joel C. Webster of Florida left this world on Thursday June 1, 2023 while under Haven Hospice Care of Gainesville, Florida. Born November 2, 1947, he was the son of the late Elmer and Ida (Carter) Webster and the husband of Charline (Haines) Webster. He and his wife have been residents of Florida for several years and formerly lived in Fairton.
Joel served his country aboard the USS Ranger during the Viet Nam War and was honorably discharged. He owned and operated Webster Auto Sales in Fairton for many years until his retirement to Florida. He also served his community in many capacities as a member of the Fairfield Volunteer Fire Company No#1 Fairton, Chief of the Cumberland County Fire Police, Mayor of Fairfield Twp., OEM Coordinator for Fairfield Twp., and in Florida, he served with the Marion County Sheriff's Office. He had a passion for classic and antique cars and loved participating in car shows.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Charline, his two sons, Bill (Sarah) Webster of Virginia and Clay Webster (Eve) of Mississippi, his step son Brian Fiester of Florida, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two brothers, Phil Webster (Emma) and Milton Webster (Eleanor), three sisters, Libby Pierce (Alvin), Susie Pierce (Butch) and Stella Adkins (Bob) all of Fairton, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his nephew Kevin Pierce.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service with military honors on Friday morning August 4, 2023 at 9:30 am in the Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery.
