Joan Garrett's Obituary
Joan Garrett, aged 77 years of Bridgeton, died peacefully on Sunday morning May 15, 2016 in the Cumberland Manor where she had been a patient for just the past week.
Born in Bridgeton, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Hazel Elizabeth (nee Riley) Sooy, and was an area resident all of her life. Joan had worked for over fourteen years in housekeeping in the former Bridgeton Hospital retiring in 2004. She enjoyed cooking for family and just being with her family and friends. She is survived by her two children: Robert Garrett and his wife Diane, and Robin Garrett and companion Mike Nasuti; her one brother, Larry Sooy and his wife Donna; four sisters, Delores Garrett and her husband Charles, her twin sister, Jean Welch, Patty Giacalone and her husband Louis, and Debbie Durham and her husband Allen; a sister in law, Laura Sooy; eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended relatives.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Joseph Garrett and her brother, Albert Sooy.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Thursday May 19, 2016 at 11:00a.m. from the SRAY-WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME, 62 Landis Ave., at Carll’s Corner, Upper Deerfield Twp. The interment will be in Overlook Cemetery, Bridgeton. Friends will be received Thursday morning from 10:00 till 11:00a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
