Joan E. Bender's Obituary
Joan E. Bender 77, of Bridgeton passed away suddenly and unexpected on Saturday December 29, 2012 in South Jersey Regional Medical Center, Vineland.
Born in Fairton, NJ she was the daughter of the late James M. Sr. and Viola Read, and the wife of the late Frederick J. Bender who passed away in 2003. She had been an area resident all of her life.
Joan was employed for several years with the former Rainbow Nursing Center in housekeeping, until her retirement in 2005. Always a quiet person, she had a gift of nurturing, whether it be a plant or stray animal, she would care for, nurse, and bring back to health. She enjoyed reading, gardening and crocheting, and spending time with her loving family.
She is survived her six children whom she adored, William John Bender of Fairton, Robin Lydia Bender of Millville, Barbara Criss and her husband Dave of Pittsgrove, Rick Bender of Bridgeton, and Tammie Lynn Bertucci and her husband Vincent of Upper Deerfield Twp., two brothers, eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son Frederick J. Bender Jr., and a granddaughter Samantha Barr.
At Joan’s request funeral services were held privately. Arrangements were under the direction of the SRAY-WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Twp.
