Janice A. Pierce's Obituary
Janice A. Pierce aged 86 years, of Pitman NJ , formerly of Deerfield Twp. passed away Friday evening after a brief illness in Inspira Medical Center, Woodbury.
Born in Bridgeton, she was the daughter of the late Alfred R. and Nancy Rebecca (nee Wynder) Wright, and the wife of the late Everett G. Pierce who passed away this past June.
Janice was a graduate of Glassboro State College and was a teacher for 23 years where she worked for the Bridgeton Board of Education. She taught at the Bridgeton Junior High School and also for the Fairfield Twp. Board. She and her late husband were faithful members of Centerton Freewill Baptist Church where she played the piano and sang. Janice was also formerly employed at Owens Illinois glass house in Bridgeton. She and Everett enjoyed riding motorcycles and were long time members of the Colonial Riders Motorcycle Club, and in their later years enjoyed camping and traveling, seeing many different parts of the world after retirement.
Janice was a former member of the Carmel Fire Company’s Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Cumberland County Republican Women’s Club, and a member of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indian Tribe of New Jersey. She enjoyed dancing and taught Country Line Dancing at the Deerfield Twp. Senior Center. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many.
She is survived by her children: Palma Hepner and husband Donald of Ocean City, Aledra Dichter and husband Eric of Florida, and Neal Pierce and wife Bonnie of Woolwich Twp., her four grandchildren: Brecken Ashenbrenner and husband Carl, Kyle Hepner and wife Rosemarie, Alexander Pierce, Nicole Pierce, her great grandchildren: Max Ashenbrenner and Ledra Ashenbrenner, and many many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased besides her husband, by brothers: Alfred H. Wright, Harold Wright Sr., and a sister, Gloria Wesley.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday morning December 16, 2017 at 11:00a.m. from the SRAY WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME, 62 Landis Ave at Carll’s Corner, Upper Deerfield Twp. The interment will follow in Centerton Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, Pittsgrove Twp.. Friends may call on Saturday morning from 9:30a.m. till 11:00a.m. prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in memory of Janice be made to the Arthritis Foundation National Office 1355 Peachtree St. NE Suite 600 , Atlanta, GA 30309.
