Isabel Tarpey Durham's Obituary
Isabel “Tarpey” Durham, aged 83 years, passed away on Thursday evening in Inspira Medical Center, Elmer, after an extended illness.
Born in Bridgeton, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Margaret (nee Carney) Loatman, and the wife of the late Ralph E. Durham who passed away in 2008.
Tarpey was a seamstress by trade, and had worked for many years, prior to its closing, for the former Model Blouse Company, and also for the former Major Clothing Company in Bridgeton. When she was young she worked for many years with her father and brother in the family Septic business. She loved watching QVC on television, but especially loved spending many an hour on the phone with family and friends. She enjoyed music, especially old rock and roll and was well known for doing the Jitterbug dance in her day. She loved most being with her family.
She is survived by: her son Ralph C. Durham and his wife Jackie of Parlin, NJ, her sister, Anna Coker of Cheswold, Delaware, her two daughter in laws, Darlene Durham and Marilyn Durham both of Bridgeton, her four grandchildren, Brad Durham, Nikki Durham, Wyatt Durham, Amanda Durham, and several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. She was predeceased besides her husband Ralph, by her son Gary E. Durham, three brothers, James Loatman, Jack Loatman, Samuel Loatman, five sisters, Beatrice “Duke” Munson, Betty “Bootsie” Durham, Thelma Mosley, Marion Loatman, and Mary Loatman.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 12:00p.m. from the SRAY-WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME, 62 Landis Ave. at Carll’s Corner, Upper Deerfield Twp. A viewing will be held from 10:00a.m. till 12:00 p.m. prior to the services. The interment will be in Fernwood Memorial Park, Hopewell Twp.
